Coming Back to Meya Farm

A school of koi fish happily swimming in a fish pond in the middle of a cacao farm? Yes, that's what happens with a forward-thinking aquaponic system at Meya Farm 梅雅農場 - where nutrient-rich water supports the thriving cacao farms.
The feeling of coming back to visit Meya Farm in Pingtung, Taiwan again in April this year was extraordinary!
With its tropical climate, Pingtung is Taiwan's premier cacao-growing region - home to the country's largest concentration of cacao trees and the highest production volume. Among over 40 cacao farms and tree-to-bar makers, Meya Farm stands out as the largest single-estate farm in the region.
Last year, a series of typhoons swept through Taiwan, causing devastating damage to many cacao farms in the south. Meya Farm was among the hardest hit. Walking past trees with broken branches, split trunks, or exposed roots was heartbreaking. And yet, what moved us even more was the team's resilience and grounded positive spirit!
Instead of forcing damaged trees upright, they let nature take its course. The strong parts of the trees will heal and regrow. Believing in natural selection, the team continues to graft trees with desired traits to ensure a stronger future generation.
We are incredibly grateful to the Meya Farm Team for showing us around, sharing their latest developments, and offering deep insights into their work. Their passion for cacao, the land, the weather - and most of all, the people - shines through in everything they do!
