Zhushan, Nantou 70% Chocolate

Born in Nantou, Taiwan, raised in Vancouver, Canada, nurtured by Kasama Chocolate and YI SHI Cacao Collective.

Nantou 70% (Zhusan Township, Nantou, Taiwan)

We are so excited to share our latest collaboration with our dear friends at Kasama Chocolate, located on Granville Island in Vancouver, BC. This limited-release batch of chocolate features cacao beans sourced from a single estate, Siwei Chocolate 思惟巧克力工坊 located in the Zhushan township, Nantou county in central Taiwan.

It took Olivia more than four and a half hours and four bus rides to finally arrive at Siwei Chocolate. What began as a deep act of love for his mother led founder Cheng Hung Lin to plant cacao trees in 2014 and craft chocolate with minimal ingredients, hoping to support her heart health. Guided by the natural approach to farming, he has cultivated a thriving ecosystem where White-rumped Shamas are often seen visiting in pairs, sometimes following the farmers as they work among the trees.

Like the changing seasons, the flavours of the cacao evolve from harvest to harvest. This bar captures the character of Nantou cacao with bright notes of langsat (lanzones), apricot, and pomegranate molasses.

The art work is beautifully illustrated by our friend, Vancouver-based artist Ann Liao, celebrating the harmony between cacao trees and the wildlife.

This bar was recently awarded a Silver at the 2026 International Chocolate Awards (Canada) scoring 88.3. Many thanks to the Cheng Hung Lin and Yi Wen Chen at Siwei Chocolate, Kasama Chocolate Team, and Ann Liao for this beautiful collaboration together!
