In the rolling hills of Nantou, Taiwan, you will discover some of the northernmost cacao farms in the world. Here in Zhushan Township, the husband-and-wife team at Siwei Chocolate tends small cacao plots using environmentally friendly farming practices.

This limited release batch of chocolate is crafted in collaboration with our dear friends at Kasama Chocolate, located on Granville Island in Vancouver, BC. It features cacao beans sourced from a single estate: Siwei Chocolate in Nantou, Taiwan.

It took Olivia more than four and a half hours and four bus rides to finally arrive at Siwei Chocolate. What began as a deep act of love for his mother led founder Cheng-Hung Lin to plant cacao in 2014 and craft chocolate with minimal ingredients, hoping to support her heart health. Guided by the natural approach to farming, he has cultivated a thriving ecosystem where White-rumped Shamas are often seen visiting in pairs, sometimes following the farmers as they work among the trees.

Like the changing seasons, the flavour of the cacao evolves from harvest to harvest. This bar captures the character of Nantou cacao with bright notes of langsat (lanzones), apricot and pomegranate molasses.

The artwork for this special chocolate bar was beautifully illustrated by Vancouver-based artist Ann Liao, celebrating the lively ecosystem at Siwei Chocolate.

This chocolate bar was recently awarded a Silver at the 2026 International Chocolate Awards (Canada).
